Undergraduate Research Assistants

Saron Demeke is a junior majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience with a minor in Educational Studies. She has been a part of the lab since August 2019. Her research interests include adolescent education and health, including research on eating disorder intervention. She plans to attend medical school in the future.

Dannie is a junior majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience. She has been a part of the lab since August 2019. Her research interests include brain development and how it is impacted by reward-seeking behaviors. She plans to attend graduate school in the future. Dannie is also a member of the University’s swimming and diving program.

Omar Raheel is a Junior at the University of Kansas studying Psychology and Korean Language. He has been a member of the lab since 2018 and is currently assisting with research on hyper-palatable foods and lifestyle behaviors in college students. His research interests include drug addiction, language acquisition, and personal health and fitness. After graduation, Omar intends to work in South Korea for a year and then attend medical school. He is a member of KU Smash Club, an organization that holds weekly video game tournaments on campus for KU students.

Heather is a senior at the University of Kansas studying Psychology and Applied Behavioral Science. She has been a member of the lab since August 2017 and her research interests include eating disorders and autism. She plans on attending graduate school in Fall 2020. Heather is a member of a sorority on campus and a Panhellenic officer. 

Catherine is a senior at the University of Kansas studying Psychology and has been a member of the lab since August 2017. Her research interests include alcohol and drug addiction, specifically identifying the underlying mechanisms which make one individual more susceptible than another to addiction. After graduation, she plans to complete a Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. 

Megah is a sophomore majoring in Human Biology and minoring in Spanish at the University of Kansas. She joined the research lab in the summer of 2019 and is currently assisting with research focused on the rewarding properties associated with hyper-palatable foods. Megah is also a Resident Assistant on campus and enjoys being involved in various organizations. She hopes to attend medical school in the future to further her education.
